Dear Customers
As you may have noticed the Bistecca Restaurant has been closed for a few weeks now. Irrespective of what you may have heard. The reason that we made the initial decision to close was based on the Chefs both testing positive for Covid at the same time as our Sous Chef were away, one in Italy and the other in Indonesia. Yes the pandemic cause unfathomable stresses on the industry, not just to us but all of the restaurants in town. We continue in a period of unprecedented supply issues, increase food cost, and increase overhead costs along with Labour shortages. To be fair, we are not alone in this and honestly a lot of customers have stayed with us to support us even in this market.
. Another foreboding or looming concern before us is the “Big Dig” or road reconstruction on Queen for 2023/24, the initial prequalifying bids have just being published. Our restaurant is at the main connection point of the infrastructure on Queen Street where both the both on the North and South lines goes down Harbour Street, It will be likely restricted access through the entire period this wall to wall reconstruction of Queen street will have a severe impact on Bistecca at its “Current” location. Not surprisingly the numbers show that Bistecca in in this environment is not sustainable . So we are closed .
But we are not ready to throw in the towel it is our belief that a venue such as this is still needed in town so we need to reinvent ourselves and perhaps relocate ourselves . We believe that we need to be more Local, we need to be more resourceful, we need to offer fresher, tastier and in some ways simpler offerings that you our guests desire. We want to be at a position that we can deliver the best guest experience that we can and stil be affordable. It is our continued goal to do so. .
So I ask, Please be Patient. We have a Plan, We have the ability to implement and, we may have a Location. So please stay tunes for “Bistecca in the spring “
In the meantime, the talent we have will not go to waste, during the Winter Season, Bistecca kitchen will stay hot and will begin to offer a Soup and Sandwich menu presented at the Erie Belle as a Luncheon alongside the Eire Belle’s own famous Fish and Chip Menu. We hope that in the near future we will be able to offer other features and the possibly of a limited take out.
On another note If you currently are hold a gift certificate it will be honored at the Belle or you can hold an a little longer we hope you will be one of our first guest at our reopening .
I hope you will join us when the warm weather returns
Sincerely,
Owners Staff and of the Bistecca Family
